Working the door at Green Street isn’t quite like anywhere else.  As our Door Person, you are first and foremost a host, welcoming guests, helping them to navigate our quirky space and to get the most from our unusual concept.  We’re looking for someone who likes to engage with all manner of people, and who has the charm to check IDs and maintain order in the food line without coming off like the cops, but who also has the authority to escort out unwelcome guests when their time with us is done.  Finally, you’ll need to be reasonably fit, because the Door Person also has portering responsibilities that involve heavy lifting.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented with a strong initiative to take on a wide variety of tasks. The candidate should possess the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of directors, vendors, contractors, and has proven capabilities in multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritizing workloads.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing preventative maintenance programs to support the following:
    • Plumbing
    • HVAC
    • Refrigeration
    • Kitchen hot line equipment
    • Grease trap cleaning
    • Kitchen exhaust hood cleaning and mechanicals, and any other areas that can be maintained to prolong the life of the equipment and prevent issues before they arise.
  • Ability to perform repairs in the following areas (but not limited to):
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Kitchen equipment and appliances
    • Light millwork
    • Painting
    • Doors
    • Tile work
  • Collaborates with other facilities personnel on various projects.
  • Responds to maintenance requests from stores in a timely fashion.
  • Performs regular property inspections.
  • Advises store managers on a variety of technical engineering issues.
  • Available on a 24-hour basis in order to address building emergencies.
  • Light millwork and construction projects.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a multi-unit facilities maintenance position.
  • Excellent operational knowledge of restaurant physical plant facilities and equipment.
  • Experience with new builds and renovations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, can work independently, has a willingness to learn and upholds the Hogsalt standards and their own. To be successful, this candidate must have strong computer and administrative skills.  Must have a passion for the restaurant industry and enjoys working in a fun, fast-paced, professional work environment.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead various tasks related to design and build inclusive of, but not limited to, sourcing finishes, furniture, and lighting, space planning, concept research, design development, documentation, and construction administration.
  • Assist with the management of projects through conception, design, construction, and close-out phases
  • Procure proposals and quotes from vendors and contractors
  • Attend project related meetings, site visits and perform necessary follow-up
  • Responsible for the maintenance of project files 
  • Responsible for coordinating and directing designated project activities
  • Help to develop organizational systems to continue to better the company and design department
  • Help manage design library
  • Ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished by providing support to Senior Project Managers or Management
  • Other administrative/construction tasks as needed by the project manager

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD required
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Adobe InDesign requires
  • Ability to manage a variety of different projects and tasks
  • Someone who is creative, solutions-driven and can “think out of the box”
  • Excellent oral and written communication along with customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented and a fast learner
  • Exhibit positive, cooperative, self-motivated and professional attitude
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from project locations
